Rainbow Lodge is highly recommended by visitors to the area for its cleanliness, friendliness and customer service standards. No matter whether you are here to enjoy what the city has to offer, to go exploring the wonderful countryside that surrounds Plymouth or do a bit of both, we are the ideal base for you.

'The Rainbow' is an established favourite with explorers. To start with, we are just a moment's walk from the focal point of the whole area- Plymouth Sound. Standing on Hoe Park, you can enjoy this beautiful introduction to maritime Plymouth so famous for its explorers like the Pilgrim Fathers, Drake, Cook, Darwin, Scott and Shackleton.

And the Coastal Path passes through here too just 200 yards from 'the Rainbow', meaning that you can soon be starting a walk along the South Devon coastline:

to the East (via the Mount Batten Water Taxi)
or along the Devon-Cornwall shoreline to the West (Cremyll Ferry all year or Cawsand Ferry between April and October).

As experienced walkers and members of SWCPA, we can help you decide on where to go along this wonderful track and provide you with maps and guide books.

Cyclists, bus passengers and drivers alike, can also enjoy the highlights along this coast to the East and West of Plymouth which include: To the East:

Dartmouth's Harbour and unique shopping, Kingswear's steam railway, and cruising on the River Dart
Salcombe's beautiful secluded beaches and wide choice of boating
Bigbury on Sea and Bantham: fantastic coastline including Burgh Island, excellent beaches and best surfing in the area at Bantham
Wemburey and Jennycliff: great coastal walking in this area

To the West:

The beautiful seaside village of Cawsand and its twin Kingsand
Rame Head with its sublime 500-year old chapel
Whitsand Bay's Atlantic rollers that stretch for miles
And further along the captivating fishing ports of Looe and Polperro

Then there's Dartmoor National Park, a majestic wilderness of spectacular tors, impressive river systems, lakes and forests just to the North of Plymouth. There are hundreds of walks to take (many in guide books we can lend you), and also think Sundays for a visit as for mysterious reasons this is the only day when the bus companies offer special Sunday Rover fares and routes to Dartmoor visitors! Explorers need to get some really good sleep to prepare for each new day's challenges so inside 'the Rainbow', professionally prepared bedding and recently purchased beds make for just the comfortable night's sleep you require.

And you'll find a good choice of rooms and prices:

SuperKingsize bedded ensuites and large family-size ensuites are £65 per night for 2 people
Smaller ensuite options are available for only £54 and £59 for 2 people
And we have a selection of Standard Rooms from only £49 per night for 2 people

All these prices include breakfast and VAT, and we also have rates for single, triple and family occupancy.

All rooms are equipped with flat screen digital TV, radio, tea and coffee, free WiFi and hairdryer, and you can book and pay on a room only basis if you want to.

Active holidaymakers need a good breakfast that best suits their needs. So we prepare your breakfast to order at the Rainbow offering three broad choices: Traditional English cooked, French Continental style, or Detox breakfast comprising fruits, berries, nuts and seeds.

At Rainbow Lodge, we try to create a clean and quiet atmosphere by banning smoking anywhere in the building and not accepting bookings that include children under 5.

We have a small car park, and spaces can be requested at the time of booking. We can also take bicycles.
